About the design

The Ballare series of elegant outdoor furniture is crafted for lasting beauty. Blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living, the minimalist designs feature soft curves and considered details that make them a delight to look at as well as to use. Designed by Danish designer Jakob Berg. Accommodating gatherings small and large, the Ballare Table can be extended to almost three metres in length when using both of the included extension leaves, making it ideal for unexpected guests and impromptu meals.

About the designer

Jakob Berg (1958–2008) was a Danish industrial designer who was inspired by shapes that caught his eye. He believed that ergonomic shapes and material choices should reflect his social reflection and all-embracing attitude to life. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1987 and worked with various Danish and international companies, receiving several distinctions for his work.

PROPER USEAGE AND MAINTENANCE

Proper usage and maintenance is vital for getting the most out of the valuable resources we have. Our designs are made to last for generations, but just like everything else, they need a little care to get there.

STAINLESS STEEL

Why
Stainless steel is a timeless and long-lasting material with a superb corrosion resistance – easy to maintain. The material strength enables designs with thin profiles and various forms and patterns. That makes it perfect for outdoor design in all kinds of wind and weather.

Cleaning
Use soapy water and wipe with a dry cloth. Stainless steel needs only to be cleaned for aesthetic considerations and to preserve corrosion resistance.

Maintenance
The steel might tarnish a little when used outdoors for a long time. You can freshen it up by using a polish such as Gleerustol metal polish which will easily remove the tarnish and protect the steel in the future.

Caution
When using special care products you should avoid all contact with wood in order not to damaging the surface. Do not use any kind of products containing chlorine as this will damage the surface and make it vulnerable to corrosion.

Winter storage
The product is functional in all types of wind and weather, all year round. However, during wintertime, it is advisable to store the furniture in an unheated room such as a garage or cellar.

TEAK

Origin
Teak is commonly found in Southeast Asia, Central and South America. Our FSC-certified Teak comes from Central America, Brazil and Indonesia, while our non-certified Teak comes from plantations in Southeast Asia and Trinidad; managed to sustain a renewable and reliable supply of wood.

Why
Teak is a heavy, hard and sturdy type of wood. The high content of natural oils makes it highly weather and rot resistant and is therefore a good choice for outdoor furniture.

Cleaning
Do a general cleaning when needed with a suitable wood cleaner and soft bristle brush. Rinse afterwards with clear water and let it dry. Note: Wipe off tables, benches and chairs after dinner and such with a dry cloth.

Maintenance
As the wood is untreated, the surface will patinate over time and eventually turn into a beautiful silvery grey colour. If you wish to preserve or intensify the original honey-golden colour, use a suitable furniture oil on a regular basis. No matter what you choose, the wood will be resistant to everyday wind and weather thanks to the high content of natural oils.

Winter storage
This product is usable in all weathers, all year round. However, if you want indoor storage during the winter months, it is advisable to store the furniture in an unheated room such as a garage or a cellar.

Indoor use
The wood has been dried for outdoor use. Hence, if you wish to use the furniture indoors it may need to be re-tightened once in a while.
